Could not find the introduction to the film so i chose to analyse the film trailer, it starts with a computer generated title of 'Columbia' and 'Universal', the title then fades in and shows a mid shot of Denzel Washington as Lincoln Rhyme a forensic cop, this introduction tells us he is an important character in the film, when examining a body he is struck by a falling piece of metal work that leaves him near disabled, after the narrator describes the killer and shows victims scarred faces using a close up, however it does not reveal the killers face, after a few scenes actor Angelina Jolie plays a street cop that aids Lincoln in trying to solve the case and catch the killer.
I could not find a clip of the introduction to the film 'The Untouchables' so instead i have analysed a trailer for the film, the start of the trailer begins with a computer generated title and slowly fades into a establishing shot of a busy city with an american flag flying which tells the audience where it's set, a voice of a character then begins to talk during the establishing shot describing the city, a narrator then introduce the characters and actors with an short clip of each character. the mise on scene of each character shows that this is a gangster styled film, then a man in a church is shown telling another character that someone needs to be behind bars which then tells the audience its a crime/thriller.
The film 'Memento' introduction begins with a computer generated title 'Newmarket' it then continues on with other titles such as the director 'Christopher Nolan', all presented on a black background. After a few titles the black background slowly dissolves and reveals a close up of a characters hand holding a photograph of what appears to be a murder scene which tells the audience it's a Crime/Thriller, one the titles have finished the picture disappears to a blank sheet which at first is confusing, the film then reveals close ups of items on the murder scene, you see a bullet which then begins to move and shoots back up into the barrel of a gun, the body on the floor rises up turns and screams which tells the audience that the starting clip was in reverse, the start also reveals the killers face and instantly you believe that the shooter is the bad guy of the film.
